About the Role

As a CFX Artist with expertise in Houdini, join our innovative team to push the boundaries of character animation and visual effects. In this specialized role, you'll apply your deep understanding of Houdini to create complex character effects, including cloth simulation, hair, fur, feathers. Working closely with the animation and rigging teams, you will ensure that the technical and artistic aspects of the character animations are seamlessly integrated and visually stunning. This position is perfect for those who are passionate about combining artistic skills with technical prowess to breathe life into our characters and enhance storytelling.

Requirements

  • Character Effects Creation: Utilize Houdini to develop sophisticated CFX solutions for cloth, hair, fur, and muscle simulations, ensuring they meet creative and technical specifications.

  • Simulation and Dynamics: Perform simulations for character garments, hair, and other dynamics to achieve realistic motion and interactions in complex scenes.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with animators, riggers, and modelers to integrate CFX elements with character rigs and animations, ensuring a cohesive and believable performance.

  • Technical Problem-Solving: Address and solve technical challenges in the CFX pipeline, optimizing simulations for efficiency without compromising on quality.

  • Pipeline Development: Contribute to the development and enhancement of the CFX pipeline, incorporating Houdini workflows to improve efficiency and creativity.

  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all CFX work is completed to the highest standard, adhering to the project's artistic vision and technical requirements.

  • Research and Development: Stay abreast of the latest developments in CFX and Houdini techniques, exploring new tools and methods to keep the studio at the forefront of the industry.

  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and share knowledge with junior CFX artists, helping to elevate the overall skill level of the team.

Qualifications

  • Advanced Houdini Proficiency: Extensive experience with Houdini, particularly in creating character effects such as cloth simulation, hair, and fur.

  • Technical and Artistic Skill: A strong blend of technical problem-solving abilities and artistic sensibilities, with a keen eye for detail and movement.

  • Understanding of Animation and Rigging: A solid understanding of character animation and rigging principles, enabling effective collaboration with related departments.

  • Simulation Experience: Demonstrated experience with dynamic simulations and procedural content creation, with the ability to produce realistic and high-quality results.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts and collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.

  • Time Management: Strong organizational and time management skills, with the capability to juggle multiple tasks within tight deadlines.

  • Education: A degree in Animation, Visual Effects, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

  • Portfolio/Reel: A compelling portfolio or demo reel that showcases a range of character effects work, highlighting your expertise in Houdini.
